Interactions of Interest
Since coming to the States I have encountered only a few famous or well known people. Back home I met nobody , not even close to anybody. So there you go.
Two stand out, Elvis Costello & Mick McCarthy. Both English of Irish descent,
I spoke to Mick McCarty the Irish Soccer Team Manager for the World Cup in 2002 in Japan/Korea. Thats me sharing a word or three. Very likeable guy direct and to the point. Its unfortunate about Roy Keane, but Mick McCarty gave us all something to proud about.

December 2003 I encountered Elvis Costello AKA Declan McManus.
Sharing two things with this great singer, we have the same first name and we both worked at the Elizabeth Arden manufacturing facility in North Acton London W3 6XL. He was a computer operator who played the guitar on the night shift and finally had enough and went off to make his fortune. I encountered him at the departure area of Dublin Airport Dec 31 2003 as he was going to New York and I was going to Boston.
I stopped him and caught his attention we had a brief chat and that was it. No auto or photographs but one less thing I have to achieve in life.

I once stood beside Joan Lunden no big deal, but a striking woman all the same. Of course there was no dialogue, but there might have been.
I passed Omar Shariff by on the streets of New York one sunny day in 1992. |
